jinhua 金華

golden flower; flower of metal

 

① True Yang (True Lead). ↔ liuzhu 流珠 flowing pearl; taiyang liuzhu 太陽流珠 flowing pearl of great Yang.

⊛ The Flowing Pearl of Great Yang desires ever to leave you. When, at last, it finds the Golden Flower, it turns about, and the two rely upon each other. 太陽流珠，常欲去人，卒得金華，轉而相因。 (The Seal of the Unity of the Three, sec. 62)

⊛ The Flowing Pearl is Yin within Yang, the Golden Flower is Yang within Yin. 〔陽中陰：〕流珠。〔陰中陽：〕金華。 (Weng Baoguang, "Model Images of the Golden Elixir", trans. in Taoist Internal Alchemy: An Anthology of Neidan Texts, p. 129)

⊛ When we say Golden Flower and Yellow Sprout (huangya), they both refer to True Lead. 曰金華，曰黃芽，皆指真鉛而言。 (Principles of the Conjoined Cultivation of Nature and Existence)

② In the Jinhua zongzhi (Secret of the Golden Flower), equivalent to the Elixir.
