Golden Elixir Quote of the Week
The Three Treasures
The Seal of the Unity of the Three: A Study and Translation of the Cantong qi, the Source of the Taoist Way of the Golden Elixir, by Fabrizio Pregadio, pages 102-3
Ears, eyes, and mouth are the three treasures:
shut them, and let nothing pass through.
The True Man withdraws in the depths of the abyss;
drifting and roaming, he keeps to the compass.
Watch and listen while wheeling around,
and opening and closing will always accord.
Take this as your lynchpin,
and movement and quiescence will never be exhausted.
The Breath of Li ☲ (eyes) strengthens and guards you within,
and Kan ☵ (ears) is not employed for listening.
Dui ☱ (mouth) is closed and not used for talking:
you follow the boundless with inaudible words.
Cantong qi (The Seal of the Unity of the Three), poem 57
